Gallerin guide

How to organise photos one month at a time

A growing photo library is easier to review when the task has a clear boundary. Start with one month and decide what you want to keep.

1. Check recovery before deleting

Know where your important originals live and confirm that a backup has actually completed. Cloud synchronisation and an independent backup are different. Deleting from a synced library may affect other devices, so check your service’s deletion and recovery instructions first.

2. Choose one month

You do not need to start at the beginning of your entire library. Choose a recent month or a completed trip. Browse that period once to notice the moments you want to keep. You can also follow this routine with the date view or albums in your existing photo app.

3. Separate keep, later, and deletion candidates

Keep the moments you want to revisit. If you cannot choose between similar photos, leave them for later. Accidental shots and outdated screenshots can become deletion candidates. Check how long you need receipts, documents and work materials before removing them.

4. Review candidates once more

Separate recording a decision from carrying out a deletion. Check the final list for anything you meant to keep, then proceed with the operating system’s confirmation. Gallerin is being built around the same principle: a swipe alone does not delete an original.

5. Make the next review easier

You do not have to finish today. Leave a clear place to resume. The total size of deletion candidates is not the same as space already freed on your device. Trash retention and operating system processing can affect the available space.

Before you finish
  • Have you checked your backup and recovery options?
  • Have you left uncertain photos for later?
  • Have you personally checked the final deletion list?
